Oxfam Australia and The Christmas Tree Truck company have partnered together to spread some extra Christmas cheer this festive season, by delivering Christmas trees to homes across ACT which help to tackle global poverty.

If there is anything better than a freshly cut, pine scented Christmas tree, it is one that gives back to charity.

Oxfam Australia’s Christmas tree program has been running for more than 30 years, delivering trees to homes across Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide. Thanks to The Christmas Tree Truck, for the first time people in ACT can now join in the Christmas spirit and purchase a tree that gives back.

The Christmas Tree Truck will be donating $10 to Oxfam Australia for each online tree sale, which will go a long way in supporting some of Oxfam’s life-changing work.

“We’re thrilled to partner with The Christmas Tree Truck this year” said Oxfam Australia’s Project Manager for the Christmas Tree campaign, Madelaine Zajdler.“They’re a small, locally owned Canberra business so we’re incredibly grateful for their generosity during a key trading period of the year.”

The Christmas Tree Truck has each tree hand-picked from sustainable farms, offering three sizes (five foot, six foot and seven foot) to cater for all homes.

Once the tree size is selected, the rest is taken care of. The Christmas Tree Truck will deliver the freshly cut tree to customers’ doors, after hours or on weekends, and teams can even collect and recycle it once the festive season is over. Old Christmas trees are then turned into woodchips.

“Oxfam’s partnership with The Christmas Tree Truck is a win-win,” said Ms Zajdler.“Freshly cut Christmas trees are such a joyful part of the festive season and knowing you’re supporting vital, life-changing projects overseas just makes the whole experience all the more meaningful.”

Oxfam works in more than 85 countries around the world, empowering communities with the tools to tackle poverty.

“Although we’re a small business, at The Christmas Tree Truck we like to think that our passion for Christmas and giving makes us the perfect partner for Oxfam,” said The Christmas Tree Truck Director Ben Zeller.“We are excited to share our experience and provide our great service to Oxfam supporters. We think that people will enjoy their real Christmas tree even more knowing that they have contributed to Oxfam’s cause. It makes us happy to know that the spirit of Christmas is being spread from Canberra across the world.”
